I hope you have found a moment of joy and are staying hydrated.
What a weekend to celebrate two beloved icons, Prince and Michael. My feed was full of videos and stories of their lives. It was a great escape from the news of the day. What struck me most is that they both built solid empires outside of social media, because it was not around at that time. Both of them were innovative and strategic.
As an entrepreneur, I am always thinking about solutions.
Not just ideas, but what actually helps women develop, implement, and amplify what they know, especially in moments when they are trying to figure out their next move.
And as I look across the landscape right now, something is becoming very clear.
The opportunities we once relied on are shifting. In some cases, they are shrinking. The rooms feel smaller. The pathways feel less certain. And the instinct in moments like this is to do more, show up more, and try to be seen.
But more visibility is not the answer. Clarity is. And the understanding that success should not depend on an algorithm.
There is a difference between being visible and being positioned. And many women in this moment are carrying real experience, real perspective, and real expertise without a platform that reflects it.
That is the gap and what led me back to podcasting differently.
When I first started, I approached it the way most people do. I focused on equipment and followed what I could find. It did not produce what I expected. What was missing had nothing to do with the mic. It was a direction.
What changed everything for me was understanding that a podcast is not just a show. It is a platform. It is an asset. And when it is developed with intention, it becomes a way to hold your voice, your perspective, and your body of work in a way that compounds over time.
Over the past few years, I have built a platform that now reaches listeners in over 35 countries. That did not happen by chance. It came from being clear about what I was building and why it mattered.
And what I continue to see is this.
While podcasting has grown, the number of active podcasts is still small in proportion to the number that have been created. And when you narrow that further, the percentage of Black and Brown women who are consistently showing up and building platforms in this space is still incredibly low. Less than a fraction of what it could be.
That is not a limitation.
It is an opening.
There is still room to build something meaningful, something owned, something that is not dependent on an algorithm, and something that positions you over time.
That is why I created Rethink Podcasting.
Not to help you “start a podcast,” but to help you develop a show with intention. To think through your voice, your message, and the role your podcast will play in your visibility and your work.
This is for women who are not looking for another idea, but for a way to build something that reflects who they are and where they are going.
If this has been on your mind, take it seriously.
