I hope you found joyful moments and stayed hydrated.
There are so many cuss words I want to use right now. So many shifts are happening that we did not ask for. Decisions are being made without our permission, and the foundations our parents built are shaking apart. But I digress.
Beyond what we see, we are in the midst of an evolution, and it is worth noting in a new way. We are inherently strong, but when the foundation is shaken in methodical ways, we have to pull from something deeper and from something above. We have to lean on our higher power and each other like never before.
This is also a time to revisit our imagination and our dreams. Yes, I am peeking around for the hopeful spaces and fully understand that a flower can grow through concrete. That flower is our deferred dreams. You know the ones you put on hold to raise your kids and build the career that allowed you to do that. The one-day dreams that seemed so far off but could be developed now.
Just as I see the concrete expanding, I also see people reimagining what is possible. I mean, have you seen the laundromats that are now chic, with co-working spaces and a snack bar? And how book clubs are moving out of coffee shops into unlikely spaces like the corner bar? And how clubs are turning into listening spaces, playing albums with good food? Out of necessity, people are exploring other possibilities and moving back into pre-Zoom days, finding ways to still live vibrant lives.
How do you see this time? What are your thoughts and feelings about our current state of affairs, and how are you navigating through it all?
Unfortunately, this time is presenting a seismic shift, and the decisions are real. Life is calling for us to move differently. Not in a way that hinders us, but in a way that expands what is possible.
